Terrifying pit road crash brings NASCAR O’Reilly Series race to a halt at Gateway

A massive pit road wreck has brought out the red flag in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Gateway on Saturday. With the field pitting after the first stage in the Nu Way 225, a massive crash brought the race to a halt. Two drivers in the Chase were involved in the massive pileup, which gridlocked pit road. Those drivers were Rajah Caruth and Brandon Jones. More importantly, everyone on pit road is safe. Brent Crews’ pit crew was inches away from being pinned to his car in the carnage as bodies and tires went flying among the twisted cars. The CW reports that all members of the No. 19 pit crew is okay. Massive crash on pit road You can view the massive wreck and how bad this could have been here: While no blame has been assigned, Jamie McMurray and Adam Alexander both felt it started with William Sawalich, who checked up first, causing an accordion effect. Nick Sanchez hit Caruth from behind and lifted his car and spun it sideways. “I saw it before you said something, but before I knew it I was off the ground,” said Caruth over the radio. A closer look at how close this situation could have been to being a tragic situation: Nick Sanchez struggled to describe the cause of the carnage After being released from the care center, Nick Sanchez was interviewed by The CW. He struggled to explain the carnage. “I don’t know, we just came to a stop on pit road, and I mean, next, yeah, I can’t really see,” said Sanchez. “Yeah, last thing I saw was the 88. “Tried to stop the best I could, and then I feel like I got hit from behind and lifted up in the air. So I don’t, I really still don’t know what happened. “But yeah, it’s just super unfortunate.” Asked if his spotter was in his ear as it unfolded, Sanchez said there was no time. “No, it’s too fast. You can’t, I mean, you can’t even process it. “So yeah, unfortunate, and hopefully everyone’s okay on pit road and nobody’s injured, but yeah, it’s just a shame. Ridiculous.”
