Thankfully, no one was injured during the attack, but shop owner Muhammad Ali, who runs the business with his father Muhammad Ilyas, said he was left “angry” and “disappointed”. The gang targeted the jeweller before attempting to loot gold, leaving staff and customers shaken. Ali, 20, said he was glad everyone was OK, despite the terrifying ordeal, which he said lasted around 35 seconds. Ali said he saw the truck coming through the window and jumped over the counter with a bat in a desperate attempt to confront the yobs. He said: “We saw a truck coming through the window. “I jumped over the counter with a bat to attack them. “I threw something at one of them and it hit the back of his head.” Speaking to the Daily Mail, Ali added: “It was horrendous. I was just so angry and shocked. I was scared for my life. “But I was also filled with rage and had to protect the people inside. Someone was trying to rob me and my family for our hard work. We work every day and night, seven days a week. “I was just so tense, I didn’t know what to do, so I threw a small hammer at them. I then grabbed the bat despite my dad pulling me back.” Cops rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area as they began their enquiries. A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “At 1.19pm today (5 September) officers were called to reports of a ram raid at a Jewellers on Duckworth Lane, Bradford. “Police have asked anyone who witnessed what happened to contact them through the Live Chat service on the West Yorkshire Police website or by calling 101. “They should quote log 737 of September 5.”
