A TERRIFIED mum says she found a 12-inch-knife stashed under her daughter’s bed at a UK holiday park. The stunned mum-of-five claims a member of staff retrieved the knife, believed to be from the kitchen drawer, and that she reported the find the following day at reception. One of the ladies that was with us, she went in one of the bedrooms that the kids had picked to check all the covers. “She moved the beds slightly and spotted the knife down the side, and I just heard her go ‘oh my God come here’. “I’d gone in there, and she’s holding the knife, and I was like, ‘where on earth has that come from?’. “Before she picked it up she had taken photos of where it was and it was down the side of the bed against the wall. Most read in The Sun “I’d say it was about 30cm [from the] handle to the tip of the knife. “If they [the children] had gone down the side of the bed I can’t begin to imagine [what could have happened]. “They’re not daft kids but it still wouldn’t stop them from picking it up and trying to bring it out to one of us and say ‘look what I found’. “Then it only takes one of the other ones to run into them. It could have ended extremely badly, it could have been horrific.” Worried about the find, Sarah rang reception and then reported it the following day. Sarah said: “I swiftly rang reception and I said ‘look we’ve found a knife down the edge of the bed’. I checked the kitchen drawer to find the same knife was in [there]. “[After complaining] they eventually got back to me and said ‘sorry this happened to you, we will put in training and we will offer you £70 in park vouchers to be used within six months’. “They just didn’t care. We would still like a full refund and we would like acknowledgement [of the incident]. “They’ve said sorry in the emails but it doesn’t feel like they mean it, it feels quite false and scripted.” A Haven spokesperson said: “As soon as the issue was brought to our attention, the item was removed from the caravan. “We apologised to the family and offered a resolution, which has been accepted.”
