Deepinder Goyal has announced November 1 as the opening date for pre-orders of Temple, his wearable device designed to track health-related signals from the head. However, buyers will have to wait a few months to receive the device, as the first batch will be made to order and shipped in early 2027.“The wait is over,” Goyal wrote in a post on X, announcing that pre-orders for Temple Batch 01 will open on November 1. He added that each device will be handmade to order and delivered within three months of purchase. The announcement gives interested buyers a confirmed date to place their orders, although the company has not yet revealed how much the wearable will cost. Rumours suggest that Temple could be priced at around Rs 1 lakh, but buyers should wait for the official announcement before drawing conclusions about its price. Deepinder Goyal finally reveals the pre-order date and availability details for the Temple device. Earlier, Goyal had said that the launch edition of Temple would be available in six colours. He also indicated that people on the early-access waitlist would receive priority when pre-orders open. What is Temple and what can it do?Temple is a wearable device designed to sit on the side of the head. It can be worn with glasses and is intended to continuously track health-related data, including changes in blood flow to the brain. The device uses photoplethysmography (PPG), a sensing technology also found in smartwatches. One of its key features is BrainFlow, which is designed to track changes in cerebral blood flow. Goyal has shared results from a second validation study involving 60 participants, in which Temple BrainFlow showed a correlation of 0.84 to 0.91 with brain blood-volume changes measured using time-domain near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). The study, which has been published as a preprint and submitted for peer review, compared readings across three physiological challenges. Goyal said the strongest correlation was recorded during a head-down tilt test. While these findings are part of the company's ongoing validation work, Temple is still an early-stage product, and its performance and practical health applications will need further independent scrutiny.Goyal has also discussed how future versions of Temple could be used beyond everyday health tracking. Responding to users on X, he said the device could potentially help assess whether pilots are fit to fly and identify suitable personnel for air force missions. The company is also researching the possibility of turning thoughts into text. Goyal said the feature could take a few years to develop and might arrive with the third or fourth version of Temple.- Ends
