Temple is launching soon in India, it is unlike anything you have seen before

Deepender Goyal, the founder of Zomato, seemingly believes it is time for a new form of wearable device, one that is unlike any wearable you’ve probably seen before. He calls it the Temple. Goyal has been teasing and hyping this gadget, Temple, for month now. Now, he has announced that Temple will be launching soon in India. But what is Temple and what makes it so special?From what has been shown so far, Temple is a tiny device that sticks to the side of your head between the forehead and the ear, aka temple, hence the name Temple. Temple is being billed as a high-performance tracker for athletes designed to keep tabs on both brain and body activity. That may be a reason why athletes like PV Sindhu have been spotted wearing Temple. So far, Temple has been under experimental phase which means that Goyal and team at his health-tech startup venture called Temple have been testing it.Temple first caught the attention of people when Goyal appeared on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast earlier this year, wearing what looked like a small metallic clip attached near his temple. Now, Goyal says the device is getting closer to a limited launch. In a recent post on X, he said the latest version is now less than half the size of the one shown earlier. In fact, Goyal claims that Temple is now the smallest wearable on the market though to be clear, you cannot buy it yet.“Temple is now less than half the size of what you've seen so far,” he wrote He also claimed that, by volume, Temple is now the smallest wearable on the market. “Volumetrically, Temple is now the smallest wearable on the market, and the most powerful. Living and training with Temple is going to change your life.”Goyal also announced that the limited-edition pre-orders for Temple are expected to begin soon, with shipments planned before the end of 2026. The exact dimensions and weight of the new version have not been revealed yet.So, what is Temple and how will it work? Unlike a smartwatch, which sits on your wrist and has space for sensors, a display and a battery, Temple is designed to sit against the side of the forehead. But the choice of location is not random. According to the company, the temple region gives the device access to signals that can be used to study cerebral blood flow, oxygenation and how the body responds to different activities.The company has not shared all the technical details of the hardware or explained exactly how it captures these signals. What it has already revealed is that Temple is designed for continuous, non-invasive monitoring rather than occasional measurements. It says that the device can track changes over time, including during exercise, sleep, stress, recovery and periods of intense concentration.For athletes, the idea is that this information could complement conventional fitness data by showing what is happening physiologically while they train or recover. One thing which Goyal is highlighting big time is the biomarker called Entropy.What is EntropyGoyal previously revealed that his team had discovered a biomarker that is only readable on the temple region and called it Entropy. “A biomarker only readable at the temple. Sleep, stress, exercise, coffee, food, meditation and even a cold plunge can affect it. The company has also split this metric into two parts.– Resting Entropy, which measures how much effort the body needs when it is at rest.– Max Entropy, which represents how much the body can produce when pushed hard.According to the company a lower Resting Entropy is considered better, while a higher Max Entropy is considered better. In simple terms, the first is about how efficiently your body operates at rest, while the second is about how much it can do when you push it.Temple's availability in IndiaTemple has already gone through early-access testing, with Goyal previously saying that the first 100 devices were ready for founding users. He has now said the company will soon begin taking pre-orders for a Limited Launch Edition, with shipping planned before the end of 2026.As for the price, that is still under wraps.
