Telangana to evaluate request from spacetech firms for Space City: IT Minister

Sridhar Babu and officials during a meeting with the leadership of spacetech firms in Hyderabad on Saturday. | Photo Credit: Arrangement Telangana government will look into request of spacetech companies for development of a Space City to bring together the ecosystem and provide the specialised infrastructure needed to accelerate growth, Minister for IT and Industries D.Sridhar Babu said on Saturday.The Minister, who interacted with the leadership of 14 spacetech companies here, welcomed the recommendation and said the government would evaluate it as part of its broader ambition to position Hyderabad among the world’s top five space-tech hubs.After building globally competitive strengths in the fields of information technology, Life Sciences and aerospace and defence, Telangana has set its sights on space technology as a fourth pillar of its economic growth story, Mr. Sridhar Babu said.The startups, whose leadership met him, are building rockets, satellites, space debris removal, orbital infrastructure and other frontier technologies representing the next generation of advanced engineering and innovation from Hyderabad, the Minister’s office said. Skyroot Aerospace, Dhruva Space, Constelli, TakeMe2Space, Cosmoserve Space, Abyom SpaceTech & Defence, Sanyark Space, XDLINX Space Labs, EON Space Labs, Red Balloon Aerospace, AnduraX, Bluj Aerospace, Apollyon Dynamics, and Vassar Labs were the 14 companies represented at the meeting.
