Damodar Raja Narasimha following the government’s announcement of the stipend hike on Wednesday (September 9, 2026) | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Nine days after Telangana AYUSH students, House Surgeons and postgraduate doctors called off their 28-day strike, the State government has approved an increase in their stipends, bringing them on par with those paid to corresponding allopathic junior doctors and postgraduate (PG) students.The enhancement was approved through a government order issued by Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu following a proposal submitted by the Director, Department of AYUSH, Telangana.Under the revised structure, the monthly stipend for AYUSH House Surgeons has been increased from ₹13,754 to ₹29,792. The order covers 405 House Surgeons, including 126 Ayurveda students, 125 Homoeopathy students, 94 Unani students and 60 Naturopathy students.The government has also substantially increased the stipends for AYUSH postgraduate students. The monthly stipend for first-year PG students has been raised from ₹30,947 to ₹67,032, while the stipend for second-year students has increased from ₹32,665 to ₹70,757.For third-year PG students, the monthly stipend has been enhanced from ₹34,385 to ₹74,482.
