Teen who said he was groomed and molested by female therapist, 26, at juvenile hall has VANISHED, his mother says

A teenage boy who was allegedly groomed and molested by his juvenile therapist has vanished amid fears he ran away to be with her, his mother has claimed. The California teen, who has not been identified as he is underage, was allegedly groomed by therapist Sofia Drotts, 26, when he was in detention at Contra Costa County juvenile hall from 2024 until April this year.Drotts was arrested earlier this month and hit with felony charges including unlawful sexual intercourse, and was released on bail. After the teenager was released from juvenile hall, Drotts allegedly carried on seeing him and posing as his teenage girlfriend, while also meeting with healthcare professionals to continue 'treating' him with therapy sessions. His mother has now told the California Post that her son, now 17, has ran away from home, and she fears he has left to be with Drotts. She said her son 'just left' when Drotts was arrested, and said he is convinced his relationship with Drotts was consensual. 'I don't know where he is... I hope he's not with her,' said the mother, who remained anonymous to protect her son's identity. She said her son had been in constant contact with Drotts since he was released from juvenile detention, and revealed he was even on a video call with her at the moment she was arrested by Concord Police earlier this month. 'She was very professional, very caring,' she said. 'Like she always had my son’s best interest at heart.'The mother said she was stunned when Drotts was arrested, and had no inclination of their allegedly inappropriate relationship. She said when she confronted her son over the allegations, he told her that they were false.He then asked, 'What if it was consensual?', the mother claimed. The teen ran away from home soon after and his family have only heard of him once since then - when he briefly stopped home to take a shower and cut off his ankle monitor, his mother said. A warrant has since been issued for the 17-year-old's arrest after he also missed a probationary court date. According to a lawsuit, the Chicago native used the therapy sessions inside the secured facility to establish herself as the boy's girlfriend Drotts, an award-winning student during her stint at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has pleaded not guilty to seven felony charges related to her alleged relationship with the boy, starting in 2024 when he was aged just 14 or 15 Drotts has pleaded not guilty to seven felony charges, including sexual penetration by a foreign object, sending harmful matter to a minor, oral copulation of a person under 18 years of age and possessing child pornography.The therapist allegedly began grooming the teen in 2024, when he was 14 or 15-years-old, as he was serving a two year sentence in Contra Costa County juvenile hall. It is unclear what crime he was sentenced for. The teen's family have since filed a civil lawsuit against the county. In their lawsuit, they say Drotts, a psychology major who was pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University, should have been helping the boy but instead allegedly 'abused her position' over the course of two years to 'establish an inappropriate connection' with the teen. According to the civil suit, the Chicago native used the therapy sessions inside the secured facility to establish herself as the boy's girlfriend.After the boy was released earlier this year, the suit claimed that Drotts continued meeting with healthcare professionals to discuss the boy's treatment while also conducting therapy sessions inside her car and inviting him to stay at her home, the lawsuit alleged.
