Teen tries to jump off Sambhajinagar cliff, parents try to save him; all 3 die

An 18-year-old teen and his parents died after a rescue attempt at Khavdya Hills in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharastra turned tragic on Thursday.The teen had climbed the hill and threatened to take his own life. His parents, police, fire brigade personnel and villagers made repeated efforts to persuade him to come down, but the attempt ended in the deaths of all three family members.THREE-HOUR EFFORT TO SAVE TEENThe standoff continued for nearly three hours, from around 10 am to 1 pm, as Kunal stood on a sharp, rocky outcrop overlooking a deep gorge.Sangeeta, the teen's mother, accompanied by the local sarpanch and villagers, repeatedly pleaded with him to reconsider his decision. At one point, the sarpanch even offered him an iPhone in an attempt to persuade him to come down, but Kunal did not respond to the appeals. Police and fire brigade personnel also reached the spot, but efforts to rescue the teen did not succeed.FATHER FALLS WHILE TRYING TO SAVE SONMurlidhar, the teen's father, who had initially remained at the base of the hill, later climbed up in an attempt to personally reason with his son. As he tried to grab hold of Kunal, both of them fell from the hill, according to preliminary accounts of the incident.MOTHER JUMPS AFTER SEEING TRAGEDYHorrified after witnessing her husband and son fall, Sangeeta allegedly jumped from the hill, killing herself.The deaths of the three family members within minutes left villagers, police personnel and fire brigade officials at the spot in shock.All three were residents of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
