The truth emerged only when blood-stained clothes found during a house cleaning led to a murder investigation.Police have arrested the man’s 17-year-old granddaughter and her alleged boyfriend in connection with the killing of Ramdeen Kushwaha in Chhirona village under Chirgaon police station limits.According to police, the teenager and her boyfriend, identified as Vishal, allegedly killed Ramdeen after he caught the two sitting together on a charpai at the house.Police said Vishal allegedly strangled Ramdeen, while the teenager allegedly hit her grandfather on the head with a stone used for making rotis. The duo allegedly then carried his body to a well behind the house and threw it inside to conceal the crime. FAMILY THOUGHT HE HAD FALLEN INTO WELLRamdeen lived with his wife and granddaughter Kanchan in Chhirona village. On September 12, Ramdeen’s wife returned home from work in the evening but could not find him. When she asked Kanchan about her grandfather, the teenager allegedly said she did not know where he was. The family and villagers searched for Ramdeen through the night but could not locate him.The next morning, Kanchan reportedly told them that she had seen her grandfather heading towards the well behind the house. The family then searched the well and found Ramdeen’s body. There were injury marks on his head.Since Ramdeen was known to drink alcohol, the family and villagers initially suspected that he may have fallen into the well while intoxicated. His body was subsequently taken out and cremated, with the death being treated as an accident.BLOOD-STAINED CLOTHES REVEAL MURDERThe case took a dramatic turn when family members and relatives began cleaning and washing the house after the cremation. They found clothes belonging to Kanchan that had blood stains on them. When questioned about the blood on the clothes, police said Kanchan disclosed what had allegedly happened.According to the account given by the family and police, Kanchan told them that she was in a relationship with Vishal, who lived nearby. On the day of the incident, the two were allegedly sitting together on a charpai inside the house when Ramdeen arrived and saw them.Police said the teenager told investigators that they feared being caught and bringing disgrace to the family.Vishal allegedly strangled Ramdeen, while Kanchan allegedly picked up a stone used for making rotis and struck her grandfather on the head, leaving him unconscious. The two then allegedly carried Ramdeen outside and threw his body into the well behind the house.POLICE ARREST TWOAfter the discovery of the blood-stained clothes, Ramdeen’s family raised suspicion of murder and approached the police.Jhansi Rural Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar said a case was registered after the family reported the matter.“Yesterday, information was received that the body of an elderly man named Ramdeen had been found in a well in Chhirona village on the 12th. The family had taken the body out of the well and performed the last rites, treating it as an accident,” Kumar said.He said the victim’s son-in-law later found blood-stained clothes while cleaning the house.“On finding the blood-stained clothes, suspicion of murder was raised and a report was registered. The deceased’s minor granddaughter and a neighbour, Vishal, were named as accused,” the SP said.Police questioned the two accused, who allegedly admitted to carrying out the crime, according to Kumar. The weapon allegedly used in the attack has also been recovered, police said. The investigation is being conducted by Chirgaon police, while further details are being gathered about the circumstances surrounding the killing and the disposal of the body.- EndsWith inputs from Pramod Kumar GautamPublished By: Sonali VermaPublished On: Sep 16, 2026 19:51 IST
