Apple TV's hit series garnered 61 Emmy nominations and won 13 during its first three seasons. Ted Lasso is back after Ted (Jason Sudeikis) left AFC Richmond three seasons into the job as manager of the London club. During Ted's three seasons at the helm, AFC Richmond were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship, promoted back to the Premier League and finished second in the league behind Manchester City. With Ted now home in Kansas, what will the storyline be for Season 4? How will Ted make his way back across the pond? And what about the rest of the AFC Richmond crew? Much of the cast is returning, while there are notable absences like Phil Dunster. After such a gap between Season 3 and Season 4, fans are speculating what this new season could hold for audiences. Here are the plot points that Ted Lasso Season 4 needs to address. How Does Ted Score the AFC Richmond Women's Team Job? Image via Apple TV This one seems pretty straightforward, right? The official plot summary reveals that Ted is back in Richmond to coach the newly launched women's team. In fact, Jason Sudeikis revealed early on in the process to the New Heights podcast, "We're writing Season 4 now, that's the official word. Ted's coaching a women's team." Since we now know Ted is specifically coaching the AFC Richmond women's team, the question remains how did he make this decision? Did Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) directly approach him? Was Ted missing England and decided to make a call to Richmond's Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift)? Since Ted decided to return to Kansas to remain close to his son, does this mean Henry (Gus Turner and Grant Feely) is also moving to London? Did Ted make a call, or did the owner? As much as Ted tried to protest to Trent Crimm (James Lance) it wasn't just him that brought AFC Richmond together. His story has always been the glue that holds all the other characters together. The Season 3 finale had a lot of loose ends to be explored – the women's team being one of them – and now, thanks to Ted, these storylines can be kickstarted. All these questions should be answered very early on in the season. What Story Is Trent Crimm Chasing Now? Image via Apple TV (Formally) of The Independent, Trent Crimm was last seen at a signing for his new book, The Richmond Way. The book dove deeper than just the matches and results. The Richmond Way chronicled how the people at the club treated each other, raised each other, and became a support system. Trent had a key role in Season 3, not only telling the story of AFC Richmond's chase for a Premier League title, but he was crucial in helping Colin (Billy Harris) become comfortable with his sexuality and eventually allowing him to come out to his teammates. So what is Trent up to in Season 4? Could we see him follow up The Richmond Way with a women's team sequel? Trent is too important to Ted Lasso's heart to not be included in Season 4. From a skeptic journalist to a true insider, Trent's journey in Ted Lasso has been such a highlight that it would be a shame if we didn't see him along for the ride in this new chapter. Who Will Help Kickstart AFC Richmond Women's Team? Image via Apple TV In the Season 3 finale, Keeley hands Rebecca a proposal titled "AFC Richmond Women's Team". It’s the perfect cliffhanger to catapult us into an intriguing storyline. As mentioned, women's soccer is expected to be at the center of Season 4. Women's soccer has grown exponentially in the U.S. and around the world. The NWSL has a four-year, $240 million media rights deal across multiple networks, the United States Women's National Team is coming off of a gold medal triumph at the 2024 Summer Olympics, and the Women's Euro 2025 broke records for attendance and prize money. There is no better time to tap into the women's soccer fan base than now. If the Greyhounds do expand into women's football, who is leading them out of the tunnel? Could it be Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) or Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein)? Maybe Nathan Shelley (Nick Mohammed)? It will be interesting to see who joins Ted on this next chapter of AFC Richmond. REVEAL MY HOUSE → The Sorting Hat Speaks Your House Has Been ChosenAfter careful deliberation, the Sorting Hat has made its decision. This is the house your values, your instincts, and your particular way of being in the world were made for. 🦁 GryffindorYou have nerve. Not the reckless kind, but the deep, quiet courage that shows up even when you're terrified — especially then. Gryffindors don't act because they're fearless — they act because they understand that some things are worth being afraid for. You stand up for people when it would be easier to look away. You charge toward what's right even when the odds are terrible. Harry, Hermione, Ron — the heroes of Hogwarts's greatest chapter — all called the tower with the scarlet and gold home. And now, so do you. 🐍 SlytherinYou are driven, sharp, and utterly clear-eyed about what you want and how to get there. Slytherin has long been misunderstood — painted as the house of villains when it is, at its best, the house of those who refuse to accept limits placed on them by others. You are resourceful, strategic, and you play the long game. You know your worth. You protect your own fiercely. The dungeon common room with its view of the Black Lake is yours — and the ambitions that will take you further than anyone expects are yours too. 🦡 HufflepuffYou are the kind of person that makes the world genuinely better just by being in it. Hufflepuff is not the "safe" house or the "leftover" house — it is the house of those with the greatest heart and the most unwavering integrity. You show up. You work hard. You don't need glory or recognition — you do what's right because it's right. Your loyalty never wavers, even when tested. Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, Newt Scamander — some of the wizarding world's finest. And now you join them. 🦅 RavenclawYour mind is your greatest gift, and you've always known it. Ravenclaws are the thinkers, the questioners, the ones who find a puzzle irresistible and a good book better company than most people. Ravenclaw is not merely about intelligence — it's about the love of learning, the pursuit of truth, and the rare courage to admit you don't know something yet. You see the world with unusual clarity and depth. Luna Lovegood, Filius Flitwick, Rowena Ravenclaw herself — all extraordinary, all original. And so are you. ↻ RETAKE THE QUIZ Who Will Replace Nate Shelley on the AFC Richmond Men's Coaching Staff? Image via Apple TV What makes AFC Richmond special is the people. That "Believe" mentality all started with the coaching staff. Luckily for us, Brendan Hunt and Brett Goldstein have been confirmed to be returning for Season 4, so expect to see plenty of Beard and Roy. After all, Rebecca named Roy as head coach in the Season 3 finale following Ted's departure. In the lead up to Season 4, Nick Mohammed is confirmed that he won't be part of the regular cast. This means there is a big hole in Richmond's coaching staff. We need to know if Nate's role is going to be replaced with someone else. Not only that, Nate is one of the founding members of the Diamond Dogs, which has been an extension of the coaching staff (plus Higgins) at AFC Richmond. Maybe Nate is moving over to help with the newly formed women's team, but until then, we hope "Nate the Great" makes a comeback! Is Rebecca Still Dating Matthijs? Image via Apple TV Remember that mystery man from Amsterdam? You know, the guy whose name we don't know? Well, it is in fact "Matthijs" (Matteo van der Grijn), only seen in the credits. Matthijs saved Rebecca after she fell into an Amsterdam canal, and took her back to his houseboat where she spent the night. The two share a kiss in the morning, and we expect they'll never see each other again. Until… the Season 3 finale, when Rebecca is leaving the airport after saying goodbye to Ted. A young girl trips in front of Rebecca, and it turns out to be the daughter of (you guessed it) Matthijs! We later see them attend Higgins' barbecue together. Are Rebecca and Matthijs still a couple? Is Rebecca a step-mom? Season 4 must tell us! Will Keeley and Roy Get Back Together? Keeley Jones has not been short of suitors during the series. Jamie Tartt (Dunster), Roy and venture capitalist Jack Danvers (Jodi Balfour) were all involved, to some degree, romantically with Keeley throughout the first three seasons. But the last we saw Keeley, she was single. She threw both Roy and Jamie out of her house after they told her she must choose between the two of them. Keeley and Roy were a fan-favorite relationship, and had the most depth out of all of Keeley's connections. From a late-night kiss, to complete avoidance, to a first date, and Keeley comforting Roy in the locker room after his final game — this relationship has it all. So does Roy make Keeley feel like she's been struck by lightning? With Phil Dunster confirmed not to be returning, this opens up the door to a Keeley-Roy reconciliation.
