MAX BURGIN had to cut short a live BBC TV interview as he was close to throwing up. And on a hot day in Birmingham, he struggled to keep down his breakfast as he was spoke to Beeb track-side reporter Sarah Mulkerrins in the mixed zone. Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! More than a minute into the interview, the Yorkshireman was talking about not being able to sleep well before a race when he stopped and retched into his left shoulder and then into the back of his hand. Sensing that the athlete might vomit in front of millions, Mulkerrins interjected and stopped the chat, saying: “We’ll let you go, thanks so much, Max.” Burgin – whose Glasgow Commonwealth Games campaign was ruined by a lingering virus – later said he would be OK with running in Thursday night’s final on another hot evening in the West Midlands. He said: “The heat helps speed-wise, your muscles are warmer coming in. “I didn’t mind it out there. “It’s unusual for this country but we’re used to running in races elsewhere where it is this temperature.
