Teachers’ federation urges State government to revive APAT

Photo: Arrangement Bankuru Joginaidu, honorary president, and Meesala Venkata Gowri Sankara Rao, secretary, of the Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation (APTF) of Vizianagaram and Manyam Districts on Sunday (September 20, 2026) urged the State government to revive the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal (APAT) for quick disposal of petitions filed by employees, teachers and others.Speaking to reporters in Saluru in Parvatipuram-Manyam district, Mr. Joginaidu said about 31,784 writ petitions of teachers and others were pending in the courts, and they could be processed and resolved quickly if they were sent to the APAT.“The previous government abolished APAT although the tribunal used to ensure quick justice for staff on service issues. Its revival would benefit lakhs of employees across the State,” Mr. Joginaidu said.Mr. Sankara Rao said postgraduate teachers of tribal Gurukulas, outsourcing lecturers and teachers of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas had many grievances, and their issues would be resolved in a time-bound manner with the revival of the tribunal.
