TCWS No. 2 remains over parts of N. Luzon as Kiyapo maintains strength

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 remained hoisted over parts of Northern Luzon as Tropical Storm Kiyapo (international name: Noul) maintained its strength on Friday afternoon, the state weather bureau said. In its 2 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Kiyapo was last located over the coastal waters off Camiguin Islands, Calayan, Cagayan as of 1 p.m. READ: Wind signals raised over parts of N. It slightly decelerated as it was moving west-northwestward at 25 kph from its earlier movement of 30 kph. Pagasa noted that TCWS No. 2 still prevailed over the following areas: Batanes Northern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Santa Teresita, Camalaniugan, Aparri, Ballesteros, Abulug, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Claveria, Santa Praxedes, Buguey, Allacapan, Lal-lo, Gattaran, Baggao, Lasam) including Babuyan Islands Northern portion of Apayao (Luna, Santa Marcela, Calanasan, Pudtol, Flora) Northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Dumalneg, Adams, Bangui, Burgos, Vintar) It warned of “minor to moderate threat to life and property” as wind speeds range from 39 kph to 61 kph. Meanwhile, TCWS No. 1 was raised over the following: Rest of mainland Cagayan Isabela Quirino Nueva Vizcaya Rest of Apayao Abra Kalinga Mountain Province Ifugao Benguet Rest of Ilocos Norte Ilocos Sur La Union Northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao) Under this wind signal, there is a potential minimal to minor threat to life and property with wind speeds ranging from 39 kph to 61 kph. Article continues after this advertisement Pagasa then said that hoisting TCWS No. 3 is not ruled out if Kiyapo develops into a severe tropical storm while moving over Batanes-Babuyan Islands.
