The detectives treated the mystery with the kind of seriousness usually reserved for a much more pressing case, examining the evidence and trying to determine whether the clues pointed to Taylor’s presence at the ceremony. Then the mystery woman herself walked through the door. Taylor appeared in a sharp khaki suit, joining the group as though she were another member of the SVU team tasked with solving the case. Rather than simply confirming whether she was attending, Taylor played along with the investigation as the detectives attempted to work out the answer, often referring to herself in the third person. The unexpected cameo immediately turned the long-running speculation surrounding Taylor’s possible Emmys appearance into part of the show’s plot.
