Taylor Frankie Paul Reveals She Got Engaged In ‘The Bachelorette’ Unaired Season

Nearly six months later, Taylor Frankie Paul is recalling her almost happy ever after her season of The Bachelorette was shelved. In a clip from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the MomTok influencer discussed the similarities between her ex Dakota Mortenson and contestant Doug Mason, whom she ultimately chose on Season 2 of the ABC dating show. “And yes, he did get down on one knee and proposed, which I was shocked,” she said in a clip shared on the Get Real podcast. “He told me [he wasn’t going to propose]. We weren’t planning on doing that.” Paul confirmed she accepted Mason’s proposal. “Yes, yes I did. And then I come home.” Watch on Deadline Mason previously shared a statement after ABC pulled the plug on Paul’s season of The Bachelorette on March 19, just ahead of its planned premiere on March 22, after a 2023 video surfaced of her throwing a stool at Mortensen and hitting one of her children. “In light of everything that’s happened, I’m just sending out prayers to Taylor because that was her moment and her moment was blocked,” said Mason. “All we can do right now is be hopeful. Let’s stay positive and show nothing but support for people in need.” In May, Disney’s reality TV chief Rob Mills said the company is taking it “day-to-day” on whether or not to release the season. The Salt Lake City District Attorney’s Office dropped the charges against Paul in April. Paul had already entered a guilty plea on one count of aggravated assault for the dust-up with Mortensen in 2024. More allegations against Paul emerged in late March after the unscripted romance series was shelved. Paul remains under ongoing probation, which could have been revoked if DA Gill had decided to pursue further charges, for which a five-year prison sentence was also possible for a third-degree felony.
