Prices for the new sedan start at Rs 5.29 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 6.29 lakh for the iCNG version, both ex-showroom.The Aeris marks a fresh identity for Tata Motors in the compact sedan segment, with the company focusing on the traditional strengths of a sedan: comfort, space, stability and efficiency, while adding contemporary styling, technology and safety features. Bookings for the Aeris are now open, with deliveries scheduled to begin from October 11.Tata Aeris gets a new exterior designThe Aeris carries a substantially updated exterior, with Tata giving the compact sedan a sharper and more contemporary appearance. The front end features slimmer LED headlights, eyebrow-style LED DRLs and a gloss-black grille, while the bumper incorporates black detailing and pixel-inspired LED fog lamps.The side profile gets 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on higher variants, while the lower trims and CNG versions use 14-inch wheels. Other details include chrome door handles, slim wheel-arch cladding and chrome trim around the window line. At the rear, the sedan gets slimmer LED tail-lights linked by a red element, along with a revised bumper and centrally positioned reverse parking light. The Aeris is available in six exterior colours: Nitro Crimson, Pure Grey, Dandeli Drizzle, Pristine White, Daytona Grey and Dune Glow.Tata Aeris interior gets more technologyInside, Tata has given the Aeris a lighter cabin theme and a dashboard layout centred around a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The sedan also gets a semi-digital instrument cluster and a two-spoke steering wheel with physical controls.Feature additions include ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger and leatherette upholstery. Tata has also introduced a DashCam Recorder function that uses the car's surround-view camera system to record footage.Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, TPMS, hill-hold assist and Isofix child-seat mounts.Tata Aeris focuses on private car buyersTata Motors says the Aeris has been developed with the personal car buyer in mind, rather than being positioned primarily as a fleet-oriented compact sedan.The company is highlighting the sedan's combination of everyday usability, efficiency, comfort and space, while attempting to give the segment a more premium technology and design proposition.The Aeris measures 3,995mm in length, 1,684mm in width and 1,532mm in height, with a 2,450mm wheelbase and 170mm of ground clearance. The petrol version offers 419 litres of boot space.The CNG version uses Tata's dual-cylinder setup, allowing the company to retain useful luggage space despite the additional hardware required for the alternative-fuel powertrain.Tata Aeris gets petrol and CNG AMT optionsThe new Tata sedan is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. The engine can be paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed AMT.The CNG version uses the same 1.2-litre engine but develops 76bhp and 97Nm of torque.
