Tamil Nadu woman chopped into pieces, packed in sacks and dumped in water tanks

A woman’s dismembered body was found packed in sacks and dumped inside rooftop water tanks in Tamil Nadu. The incident came to light in Salem after Ramesh, a temple priest, found the body parts in water tanks at his residence in Arisipalayam.Ramesh had returned with his family from a function in Thanjavur when his wife, Jamuna, noticed that the water flowing from a tap was discoloured. Ramesh and his son went to the terrace to inspect the tanks after detecting a foul smell.“We returned around 6.30 am and noticed that the tap water was not clean. When we opened the tank, there was a foul smell. My son and I went upstairs and found sacks inside. We removed one and opened it. There were hands and legs inside. We immediately informed the police,” Ramesh said. Police reached the spot and recovered three sacks from two water tanks. The bags contained the woman’s dismembered body parts, including her hands, legs, torso and hip.The woman’s identity has not yet been established. Sources said the name “Ganapathy” was tattooed on one of her hands, which police hope could help identify her. Investigators are examining missing-person reports and trying to determine how the sacks were placed inside the tanks.
