The Tamil Nadu government has extended the deadline to apply for regularisation of unapproved plots and layouts across the State to June 30, 2027. The Housing and Urban Development Department issued Government Order 148 on July 27, 2026, granting an additional 12-month extension.The scheme is strictly applicable to unapproved layouts formed, and wherein at least one plot was sold and registered, on or before October 20, 2016. The time extension covers both sold and unsold plots located within these designated layouts. According to the order issued by Principal Secretary R. Kirlosh Kumar, the previous deadline expired on June 30, 2026. The Director of Town and Country Planning proposed the extension for the benefit of individuals who had not applied during the previous phases.Applications for regularisation must be submitted exclusively through the online portal. The government mandated that the extension of the process operate under the existing Tamil Nadu Regularisation of Unapproved Layouts and Plots Rules, 2017, with no alterations to the established guidelines.
