Tamil Nadu CM Vijay inaugurates Aavin annex laboratory at Madhavaram Dairy unit

Joseph Vijay on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) inaugurated the newly-constructed annexure laboratory of Aavin’s State Central Laboratory at the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation’s Central Dairy in Madhavaram, Chennai.He also inspected operations such as milk handling, distribution and packaging at the Madhavaram Dairy unit. According to an official release, the annexure lab was constructed at a cost of ₹2.23 crore and is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at Aavin’s Dairy factory at Madhavaram in Chennai on October 7, 2026 | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement The annexure laboratory will conduct drinking water tests in accordance with the standards of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and wastewater tests in accordance with the regulations of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), the release said.The laboratory has been established with modern equipment to conduct all quality tests required by the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation and the district cooperative milk producers’ unions accurately and swiftly in accordance with international standards.The Madhavaram Dairy unit has the capacity to process 4.5 lakh litres of milk a day. To meet the future milk requirements of Chennai residents, a new dairy with modern automated technology and equipment and a milk processing capacity of seven lakh litres a day is being constructed at Madhavaram at a cost of ₹152.26 crore. Mr. Vijay inspected the ongoing construction work and instructed officials to expedite the work, the release added. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Perambur MLA C. Sivarasu and senior officials of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (Aavin) were with the Chief Minister during his visit.Later, Mr. Vijay went to his Perambur MLA office and interacted with some members of the public.
