Ramesh Chennithala, Kerala Home Minister Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Wednesday said the government has taken serious note of the Kerala High Court’s observations regarding the arrest of Dr. M.K. Ram in connection with the death of BDS student Nithin Raj at the Kannur Medical College, Anjarakandy.The State Police Chief has been ordered to examine any procedural lapses in handling the case. Appropriate action would be taken if the inquiry finds that any officer failed in their duties, the Minister told the media.Reiterating the government’s stand, Mr. Chennithala said the police have stood with the victim from the very beginning of the investigation. He added that the government has already replaced the Crime Branch investigation team and appointed a new Special Investigation Team under the leadership of Inspector General S. Ajeetha Begum based on a request from the victim’s parents.He also dismissed allegations of delay or attempts to shield those involved in the case. “No one who acts unlawfully will be protected by the police.
