Taapsee thinks media is responsible for Kangana feud, says 'aapko maza aa raha hai'

At the trailer launch of Gandhari, actor Taapsee Pannu was asked about her ongoing war of words with actor-politician Kangana Ranaut involving comments on "upbringing" and "parents." Expressing frustration, Taapsee said that the issue refuses to end simply because she is asked the same question in every media interaction.During the event, a reporter asked her about her long-running feud with Kangana, highlighting the growing narrative around women supporting women.Taapsee said, "Main puuchhna chahungi har baar aadmi hi kyun aisa question puuchhta hai aurto ko. Aapko aaj ka hi mauka mila. Aap khatam kyun nahi hone dete ye baat. Koi question jab hum logo se puuchna band karega na ye waala to ye issue bhi band ho jaega. To aap sab logo ko ya to maza aa raha hai dekh ke to sab lage hua hain same sawal puuchne. Agar aap genuinely chahte hain saare ye na ho issue, to aap log ye sawal shayad puuchha band kar dete to ye baat kab ki khatam ho jaati (I would like to ask why men ask women this same question every time. Today was your chance. Why don’t you let this matter end? Once people stop asking us this question, this issue will also come to an end. So, either you all are enjoying watching this and that's why everyone is busy asking the exact same question, or if you genuinely wanted this issue to stop, you would have probably stopped asking this question, and this matter would have ended long ago)."Taapsee and Kangana's feud had recently reignited when, during India Today Woman Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the former was asked whether she had mended ways with the actor-politician. “There are quite a few now, which one are you talking about?” she responded, before adding, “I haven't met her. I didn't meet her before when these so-called issues started. I haven't met her now as well.”Taapsee said her views about Kangana reflected their different upbringings, ways of speaking and ways of perceiving things. “My opinion on her is reflective of my upbringing and my way of talking, my way of perceiving things and hers... she stands by hers. So, I think that's enough for everybody to look and decide who comes from where,” she said.Kangana had responded to Taapsee's remarks on her Instagram story, which read, "One Sasti copy is out and about with her upcoming B grade film but as usual only headline point with the media is Kangana Ranaut, but today she crossed all limits shamelessly ridiculing my upbringing /parents, I think all parents do their best and I never bring any parents in to any argument, but today I also want to ask her parents why they couldn't birth someone original like my parents did? Why a cheap Sasti copy? Feel sorry for your efforts (sic)."Taapsee replied to the post on her Instagram story through a cryptic caption. She wrote, "Hence proved (sic)."Taapsee and Kangana's public friction dates back to 2019. The dispute intensified after Kangana's sister, Rangoli Chandel, described Taapsee as a “sasti copy” of Kangana on social media. The remark came after Taapsee praised the trailer of a film featuring Kangana, with Rangoli accusing her of imitating Kangana without giving her credit.Tensions peaked in 2020 during widespread discourse on insider privilege and industry politics, leading Kangana to dismiss Taapsee and her peers as "B-grade" actors and "needy outsiders."However, Taapsee maintained that she had never engaged in personal mudslinging. She had earlier mentioned that it takes two people to fuel a fight, asserting that she had never spoken ill of Kangana.Meanwhile, Taapsee's upcoming action-thriller Gandhari is set for a theatrical release on September 3.
