Taal Volcano sulfur dioxide emission drops sharply

LUCENA CITY — Taal Volcano’s sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions have significantly decreased after several days of elevated activity, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. In its 5 a.m. bulletin on Friday, Phivolcs said only 188 metric tons (MT) of SO2 were emitted from the volcano’s main crater over the past 24 hours.
