With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation." An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account. Sign in to your Collider account Sydney Sweeney's new take on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has just headhunted its new lead. It's already snagged one of the stars of Off Campus, and now it's about to complete its love triangle with its new Ichabod Crane, whose typically gawky physique might have to be adjusted, given the barbarian superhero who'll be filling his buckled boots. Hollow will star Sweeney as Katrina Van Tassel, a young woman in the colonial American town of Sleepy Hollow, New York. She's between two suitors: intellectual outsider Ichabod Crane and local jock Brom Bones. However, her love life soon becomes a backdrop to a supernatural killer stalking the fields of Sleepy Hollow...one who's looking to make heads roll. It's said to combine the traditional tale by Washington Irving with supernatural, psychological, and erotic thriller elements. Last month, Off Campus star Belmont Cameli was cast as Bones, leaving only one major role left to cast. Now, Deadline reports that Nicholas Galitzine is in final negotiations to play Ichabod Crane in Hollow. The British actor turned heads last summer as he stepped into the furry boots of He-Man in Masters of the Universe; he can currently be seen in the WWII sports drama The Mosquito Bowl. The movie is based on the debut novel of horror filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines), which is set to be released in fall 2027; Beer will also direct the film and adapt her own novel. Sweeney will executive produce the movie via her Honey Trap production company, which recently landed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. He doesn't strategize, doesn't adapt, doesn't outsmart. He simply pursues. Your ability to keep moving, use the environment, and resist the panic that freezes most people gives you a genuine edge. The Crystal Lake survivors were always the ones who stopped running in circles and started thinking about terrain, water, and distance. You think like that. Which means Jason, for all his indestructibility, would face someone who simply refused to be where he expected. From The Collider File Crystal Lake, the Peacock prequel series, dropped all eight episodes on October 15, 2026. It ended a 17-year gap, the longest the franchise has ever gone without a new entry. You notice the shape in the window, the car parked slightly wrong, the silence where there should be sound. Michael's power lies in the invisibility of ordinary suburbia, the fact that nothing ever looks wrong until it already is. Your spatial awareness and instinct to map every room, every exit, and every shadow before you need them is precisely the quality Laurie Strode had. You are not a target waiting to happen. You are someone who already suspects something is wrong, and acts on it. From The Collider File John Carpenter is producing a new Halloween film with Blumhouse and Miramax. That strategy requires a target who can be destabilized. Why You Last Longer You are harder to destabilize than most. You've faced uncomfortable truths about yourself and you haven't looked away. The survivors on Elm Street were always the ones who understood what was happening and chose to face it rather than flee from it. Freddy's greatest weakness is that his power evaporates in the presence of someone who refuses to give him the fear he feeds on. Your psychological resilience, the ability to stay grounded when reality itself becomes unreliable, is exactly the quality that keeps you alive here. From The Collider File Paramount set a new A Nightmare on Elm Street in motion in July 2026, with the Wes Craven estate involved. Craven built the original on newspaper reports of people so afraid of their own nightmares that they refused to fall asleep. They survived because they faced their fears together, and faced them honestly. You ask the questions others avoid. You look directly at what frightens you rather than turning away. He exploits the gap between how something looks and what it really is.Why You Last Longer You don't have that gap. You take threats seriously regardless of how they present, and you never make the mistake of underestimating something because of its size or appearance. Chucky relies on surprise, on the delay between recognition and response. You close that delay faster than almost anyone. Created by Washington Irving in the 1820 short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane is a shy and awkward schoolteacher from Connecticut who comes to the rural town of Sleepy Hollow in the 1790s. He sets his sights on local beauty Katrina Van Tassel, much to the displeasure of local jokester Brom Bones. After Bones frightens partygoers with the eerie tale of the Headless Horseman, a spectral Hessian mercenary who was decapitated by cannon fire in the Revolutionary War, Crane has a terrifying encounter with the Horseman (implied to be a disguised Bones) and never returns. The character has sometimes been reimagined as a more proactive hero in modern retellings of the tale, including the Tim Burton movie Sleepy Hollow, in which he was played by Johnny Depp, and the supernatural TV series of the same name, which starred Tom Mison. Hollow is in development; no release date has yet been announced. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
