Sydney boy fighting for life after shooting in luxury apartment complex

Updated September 21, 2026 — 6:19pm,first published 6:10pmAn 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being shot in the face and neck inside a luxury Sydney apartment complex on Monday afternoon.Paramedics rushed to the Moda apartment complex on Fairway Drive, Norwest, about 5pm following reports the child had been shot. The child was treated at the scene in a critical condition before he was taken to a nearby hospital in a serious condition for further treatment.There were five other people in the apartment when the shooting occurred, none of whom were injured. Police believe the boy was shot in the home but are unsure what led to the shooting and who pulled the trigger.Officers are investigating whether the gun was accidentally fired inside the apartment, either by the boy or another child at the residence.Several police vehicles are on scene. A police helicopter was dispatched as a large exclusion zone was established on Fairway Drive.There are 217 properties in the Moda complex, ranging from one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, according to developers Arden Group, which said each home delivers a “luxury lifestyle” to residents.
