Sweden faces ‘very messy’ political situation after election, expert says

ADVERTISEMENT ADVERTISEMENT The professor believes the current right-wing government has been “a victim of its own success”, as Swedes now appear to be seeking to give the country a “kinder face”. He said voters want to “keep in place” reforms carried out by current Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, whose government has been highly dependent on the far-right, anti-immigration Sweden Democrats, while also seeking to restore Sweden’s image as the “moral superpower that they have been in the past”.
