Surrender in 2 weeks: Bombay HC cancels Luthra brothers' bail in Goa club fire case

The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday cancelled the bail granted to three co-owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in connection with the December 2025 fire that killed 25 people and injured more than 50.The court directed Saurabh Luthra, Gaurav Luthra and Ajay Gupta to surrender within two weeks. It, however, allowed them to file fresh bail applications.The Goa government had challenged the bail granted to the three accused by a lower court. Allowing the state’s plea, the High Court cancelled their bail and set a two-week deadline for their surrender.The Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora caught fire on December 6, 2025, in one of the deadliest such incidents in Goa. In April, the Court of the Additional Sessions Judge at Merces granted conditional bail to Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra in the fire case. They, however, remained in custody in connection with a separate forgery case.Following the fire, the Luthra brothers travelled to Thailand. They were later deported to India and arrested in connection with the case.
