Supreme Just Revived One of Nike’s Weirdest Air Max Sneakers Ever

Supreme is no stranger to a classic Nike sneaker collab. There were those elephant-print SB Dunks from 2002. The camo’d-out Air Jordan 5s from 2015. And, of course, the mega-clean Air Force 1s that you still see knocking around Soho every five minutes. But the New York streetwear giant has always been at its best when it goes a little weird. And make no mistake: Supreme’s latest Swoosh linkup is plenty weird.As part of its upcoming fall-winter 2026 collection, Supreme has revealed a new spin on the Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy. And if that name means absolutely nothing to you, we don’t blame you, brother.Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy SupremePart of the reason you’ve probably never heard of it? It’s unclear that this shoe ever actually existed. The model Preme’s new kicks seem to be based on is actually the Air Max 2000, a.k.a. the Ecstasy Plus, which launched in (you guessed it!) 2000 during Nike’s experimental ‘Alpha Project’ days. The upper was wrapped in a series of horizontal TPU strips, while the sole was fitted with chunky visible cushioning. It was extremely Y2K. And unlike the Air Max 1, 90, 95, or 97, it never became one of those sneakers that Nike wheels out every few years. In fact, this is reportedly the first time it has ever been retroed (with a new name or not).Supreme hasn’t exactly been subtle with it, either. The pair that’s been teased so far comes in the imprint’s trademark red color combo, with a bright yellow midsole and shiny silver Air bubbles. But look a little closer and things get even better: those plastic strips have actually been rejigged to spell out “Supreme” across the sides.And, really, this is classic Supreme. While plenty of brands out there would happily toss their logo on another Dunk and call it a day, Supreme has spent years poking around the weirder corners of Nike’s vault. If you want a pair, the Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy is set to drop exclusively through Supreme as part of its FW26 collection.
