She alleged that officials had earlier evicted her from the state-owned Circuit House despite her being allotted a room there. The matter came up before a bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi. "If the petitioner wishes to visit her constituency, necessary arrangements have to be made," Justice Bagchi said.Senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, appearing for Moitra, sought temporary relief as she wished to visit her constituency during the festival. Durga Puja festivities begin on Friday. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the West Bengal government, said, "It may be kept next week. I will file the reply." Moitra alleged that district administration officials in Nadia, where Krishnanagar is the district headquarters, had evicted her from the Circuit House despite her room allotment. In a social media post, she claimed that on the night of August 14, a large crowd gathered outside the Circuit House and raised "Jai Shri Ram" slogans after she refused to leave the premises.Moitra wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking his intervention and threatened to move court over the alleged harassment. In her letter, she said nobody had informed her of any restriction when she booked the room or checked in.The MP said the Circuit House, located opposite the bungalows of the superintendent of police and the district magistrate, was supposed to be secure and a place where no crowd could gather, "let alone a lynch mob". The Supreme Court will take up her request for permission to stay there and for protection during her Durga Puja visit on Friday.- Ends
