Study of 85 Crypto Wallet Extensions Finds Address Leaks and Cross-Site Tracking Risks

A recent study by KU Leuven scrutinized 85 popular crypto wallet browser extensions and discovered significant privacy vulnerabilities. These wallets not only leak user addresses but also enable cross-site tracking, linking different wallet addresses to the same user and allowing third parties to follow users across various sites. This poses a serious risk to the privacy and security of crypto users, undermining the very purpose of blockchain anonymity. The findings highlight the need for better security protocols in crypto wallet development to protect users' financial privacy.
