These days it can be hard to find any video game on Steam that is truly unique, something that gives players a fresh spin on a genre that they've never even thought of. However, when that does happen, it can be pretty magical. In the case of one upcoming game, that's exactly what happened, with a loose blend of Dungeon Crawler Carl in its gameplay and Studio Ghibli in its whimsy. There are a lot of games that take the familiar dungeon crawling genre and twist it with a fresh angle that helps it to stand out against the crowd. Generally, that means unique combat mechanics or weapons, perhaps even a rare art style. However, very few, if any, games have thought to blend the darkness of monster-filled dungeons with the cozy decorating of interior design until now. Cozy Dungeons Brings A One-Of-A-Kind Exerpience To Players Yes, you read that right. Cozy Dungeons is an upcoming dungeon crawling adventure that's also an interior design game. As your character explores the rooms of this dark and dirty dungeon, you defeat monsters, clean everything up, find secrets, and then start renovating the rooms. Our protagonist here is the leader of a "monster extermination guild" who has a successful business clearing out dungeons for clients and then fixing them up to look beautiful. Well, at least less monster-infested. Each new area is full of puzzles, enemies, and traps, but also a lot of potential. After the monsters are gone, you can sell broken furniture, clean up the garbage, and then use blueprints to make furniture and decorations to style the room for your client. Once they pay you, you can then take that gold to expand your Guild, improve your character, or buy new blueprints to make things even better next time. A Whole New Take On Dungeon Crawling Cozy Dungeons is kind of a decorating equivalent to how Cuisineer tackles cooking or Moonlighter handles shopkeeping. Killing monsters and clearing each dungeon level is certainly important, but only a piece of the overall puzzle. Hopefully, you won't miss any of the monsters lurking in the corners, or your clients may end up with a bit of a surprise after they move in. Although Cozy Dungeons is listed with a 2026 release window on Steam, there is no concrete date provided, and the last trailer or real update from the devs was around a year ago. So, while we certainly hope it's going to be here any day now, there's still a chance that it could be delayed into next year.
