A STUDENT has been shot dead by police after mistakenly trying to get into a stranger’s home following a night out, his family has claimed. Erin told 6ABC: “He ended up at the wrong house after having a few drinks. “He didn’t know that, so he was knocking on the door saying, ‘Hey, let me in,’ thinking it was his friend’s house, but it wasn’t.” The couple inside the home on the outskirts of Philadelphia were startled and called the cops. Police rushed to the scene, responding to a 911 call of a possible attempted break-in at the home Glenn had tried to enter, the Montgomery District Attorney’s Office said. Cops said they found Glenn at the back of the house and an “encounter ensued” that lead officers to fatally shoot him. Erin claimed: “12:32, he was on the phone with his friends. Erin described her son as a “wonderful young man” who was set to start at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey on Monday. He had recently transferred school and was excited to start on their baseball team, she said. The heartbroken mum said the college student was a “lovable goofball”. She said: “He will walk in the back door and say his favourite thing, ‘Hey mom, your favourite kid is home.’ “He was just happy-go-lucky. Didn’t have a care in the world, and I’m going to miss that.” Family friend Kia told Fox 29: “To see someone that has so much potential because he was so excited about going back to school, lose their life, it hurts. “He was an amazing soul, young man, never got in any trouble, well-respected.” The fatal shooting was caught on CCTV cameras, police said, adding that the footage would be reviewed as part of the investigation.
