Strictly’s new spin-off show officially announces hosts – and one is former show star

STRICTLY Come Dancing has confirmed it is welcoming a brand new spin-off show for the first time in years. Amid a flurry of changes with new show hosts, a revamped It Takes Two and plenty of pro dancers, the BBC has confirmed they’re are even more shiny new changes to come. In addition to It Takes Two being aired on weeknights on BBC Two with Ellie Taylor, the Sunday results show will now be getting it’s own spin-off airing immediately after. Sign up for the TV newsletter Thank you! Titled Strictly: Lights Up, the show will be hosted by Abi Clarke and Tyler West and air exclusively on BBC iPlayer after the Sunday night broadcast. Tyler previously appeared on the show as a competitor and so he knows a thing or two about the ballroom and dancefloor. They’ll also be joined by the judges and other Strictly guests for a studio debrief post-results. As well as this, iPlayer will feature a new dedicated Strictly hub which will see mini-episodes being uploaded throughout the week which sees Abi visiting the couples in the training room. Strictly: Lights Up is expected to begin on BBC iPlayer on Sunday 4 October, when the first of this year’s celebrity couples will be eliminated from the competition. Most read in TV The Sun previously told how bosses were lining-up a spin-off centred on the pro-dancers. This is expected to be part of iPlayer’s new Strictly Come Dancing hub. It is expected to feature new professionals including Maddie Ingoldsby, 23, and will be led by show “veteran” and Strictly’s social media queen, Dianne Buswell, 37. A TV insider said: “This will delight the Strictly fandom and it’s obviously part of the renewed drive to bring in a younger market to the show which, along with hiring more influencers to compete, is seen as future-proofing the contest.” Comment now
