Sources told us how the spin-off needed a ‘revamp’ after Fleur East and Janette Manrara were axed from the hosting role. They said Ellie was perfect for the job after proving a hit amongst fans when she starred on Strictly in 2022. Ellie rose to fame as a stand-up comedian and also starred in Apple series Ted Lasso as Flo “Sassy” Collins. She finished in seventh place on Strictly, where she was partnered with new host Johannes Radebe. Johannes will join presenter Emma Willis and comedian Josh Widdicombe, 43, in hosting the new series after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly stepped down last year. Earlier this month, a source told The Sun of Ellie’s appointment: “She very much featured in the discussions when they were looking to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on the main show. Most read in TV “And although she didn’t get that job, she remained in the executive team’s thoughts.” The Sun on Sunday revealed in June that It Takes Two host Fleur, 38, had been axed from presenting the weekday show and co-host Janette Manrara, 42, was leaving the role.
