Strictly Come Dancing’s new spin-off show confirmed bringing viewers ‘closer than ever’

On Saturday night, Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe made their debut as the BBC dance programme’s next hosting line-up, as five new professionals also joined the roster. While reactions to the shake-up were pretty mixed, the 2026 launch show put in a solid performance, drawing an average of 5.3 million viewers, down just 100,000 from last year. We already know that sister show It Takes Two – previously co-hosted by Fleur East and Janette Manrara – has been given a major revamp, with Ellie Taylor at the helm to interview the couples each week. But now another addition to the family has been confirmed, as Strictly is launching a results show spin-off titled Lights Up. Hosted by comedian Abi Clarke and radio presenter Tyler West (who did Strictly himself in 2022), episodes will land on BBC iPlayer after the Sunday eliminations. What’s more, a brand-new Strictly hub will be added to the streaming platform to house ‘all things Strictly’, including exclusive clips and episodes from the training room, where Abi visits each couple to see how rehearsals are going. And that’s not all, as Strictly bosses are clearly keen to give audiences what they want, which is why a new feature has been introduced to change how episodes are watched on iPlayer. For the first time, not only will the couples’ dances be available to watch individually, but full Strictly episodes will have the option to scroll through in chapters. This means viewers can instantly skip to their favourite celebs and ‘unmissable moments’. Yehaaaa! 🤠✨’ Former It Takes Two presenter Fleur also suggested there isn’t any bad blood, as she commented: ‘Oooo! This sounds fun!! Also taking part are Dame Sarah Storey, Jaime Winstone, Bethany Antonia, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Graeme ‘The Dogfather’ Hall, Lawrence Robb, Tabby Stoecker, and John Nellis. Completing the cast is Dani Dyer, who had to withdraw last series before even performing once, as she suffered a foot injury. Now, she’s back in the ballroom and has been reunited with her original partner, Nikita Kuzmin, to pick up where they left off – and hopefully last longer!
