The supermarket has announced a two-for-£2 deal on British strawberries to “help growers manage a significant flush of fruit due to prolonged summer sunshine”. The German retailer has said customers will save 98p compared to buying two 227g packs at the standard price of £1.49 each. The deal will only run from Friday, August 21 to Wednesday, August 26, in-store, while stocks last. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, remarked at how this move was ultimately beneficial for everyone involved. She said: “This summer’s sunshine has helped produce a bumper crop of British strawberries, with a large volume expected to ripen at the same time. “By cutting the price, we’re helping our growers sell more juicy British strawberries, while giving customers even better value on a seasonal favourite.
