Strand Of Oaks’ Timothy Showalter Cast In Prison Break Spinoff Following Sons Of Anarchy Spinoff

Timothy Showalter makes soulfully scraggly indie rock as Strand Of Oaks, and he seems to have a nice little side hustle adding his own soulfully scraggly presence to various television spinoffs. Back in 2022, Showalter was cast in a recurring role as a character named Hoosier on the Sons Of Anarchy spinoff Mayans M.C. (Showalter really is from Indiana, so the name fit.) Showalter was on 10 episodes of that show. I didn't watch that show, but I was not surprised to learn, looking it up just now, that his character got murdered. (Sorry not sorry for spoiling the fate of a minor character on Mayans.) Now, he's doing it again.Showalter didn't abandon Strand Of Oaks for the bright lights of Hollywood after his time on Mayans; he released the album Miracle Focus in 2024. But now he's caught the acting bug again. On Instagram yesterday, Showalter happily announced that he's on Hulu's upcoming reboot of Prison Break, the hit prestige-ish Fox show from the mid-'00s. Maybe his character will get murdered again! Prison Break: Black Creek, which is set to arrive next year, is set in the same world as the OG Prison Break, though original stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller reportedly won't return. According to Polygon, the story goes something like this: "A soldier-turned-corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves." The cast includes Drake Rodger, Noah Emmerich, and Tim Showalter's Mayans co-star Clayton Cardenas. We don't yet know what role Showalter will play or how major a presence he'll be, but he looks pretty cool in the photo carousel that he posted on Instagram.
