Steve Sarkisian: Nobody thought Texas would win against Missouri

No. 7 Texas went on the road and picked up a massive victory at No. 18 Missouri on Saturday. After the game, head coach Steve Sarkisian wasted no time before making sure to silence the critics. According to Sarkisian, nobody thought the Longhorns would win this week. He heard the noise, his team heard the noise, but that didn’t matter once the game kicked off. $19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage “Our guys, they’re not naive to noise,” Sarkisian said. “For as much as I would love to say they tune it all out, and we try our best to do that, I could hear the talk getting on the plane yesterday. I could hear the talk when we got here. Nobody believed we’d win the game. Nobody thought we were going to come here and win the game, nobody thought we were tough enough at the line of scrimmage. Everybody thought we’d get pushed around. “The DNA of this organization is mental and physical toughness. I think that poured out of our pores today in this ballgame.” Watch on Fubo (Try for Free) Sarkisian went on to call his team “big game hunters.” It’s another ranked victory for Texas’ postseason resume, one that just got even stronger in Week 10. “A tough win on the road against another top 20 opponent,” said Sarkisian. “I think that’s six straight top 25 wins for us, I think the next closest team in the country has two. And our second top 25 win on the road. Like we say all the time, we’re big game hunters. And we showed up again today.” It was an impressive all-around effort for the Longhorns. They won 34-20 after a 14-point fourth quarter. After the first three quarters, it was a tied 20-20 game, but Missouri did not score in the final 15 minutes. Arch Manning had a good game, completing 28 of his 38 pass attempts for 297 yards and three touchdowns. The win is Texas’ third in a row, and they now sit at 7-2 on the season. They are also 4-2 in the SEC, keeping them in play for the SEC Championship Game. Two of Texas’ final three games are on the road, starting a week from today at No. 14 LSU. They’ll then host Arkansas in Week 12 before ending the regular season at Texas A&M.
