But the New Jersey native is ready to look forward and shine in 2026, while turning Syracuse around in the process. “My mom kind of helped me the most with this, all that stuff’s in the past,” Angeli said on Sirius XM. “You know, you got to move forward now. It’s great. All that stuff’s good, great, wonderful. But going into 2026 nobody cares. You know, no one’s really gonna remember it as much. You got to go out and prove it again. “And that’s another conversation I had with Coach Fran (Brown). You know, the fire that I have inside of me to go out there and play again, and in my heart, I’m a kid playing a game. You know, I love football. I love going out there and playing with my teammates and representing Syracuse. So, for me, I want to pick up right where I left off and continue on that trajectory. But the work has got to come before that.” Steve Angeli ready to excel for Orange in 2026 Prior to his injury, Angeli threw for 1,316 yards, 10 touchdowns, two interceptions and a 62.8% completion percentage. He was second in all of FBS in passing yards at the time of the injury. If Angeli delivers on his promise, perhaps Syracuse will be bowl bound or better this year. They open the season on September 5th at home vs. New Hampshire before their ACC opener vs. Cal the following week.
