Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie has had a hell of a month. Since Prime’s summer sensation Sterling Point aired in early August (and immediately shot to the top of the streamer’s most-watched list, along with every every social media feed and group chat), the 23-year-old Canadian actor has been adjusting to non-stop press, promo, and life as a bona fide heartthrob, a title he’s reluctant to claim. Not long after jetting out of New York, where he attended his first fashion week earlier this month, Lavoie embarked on another trip: this time, to Paris, a city he’s visiting for the first time to attend Paris Fashion Week at YSL’s Spring-Summer 2027 show.“I’ve been letting out my bonjour a lot,” Lavoie laughs when we hop on the phone after the show. Even though he’s only in Paris for one full day, he’s making the most of it: “Tomorrow morning, I'll try to hit a famous French brunch restaurant or something and get a”—and this part in a thick French accent—“croissant before I leave.”Lavoie shows no signs of slowing down—literally. (He’s a big walker, he tells me, and every new city presents an opportunity to increase his step count). Just two weeks after Sterling Point premiered, the show was renewed for a second season. Lavoie’s hope for Ellis, he says, is to explore a new side to his character. Something rocky, something dark: “I don't want it to be all sunshine and rainbows.”In our full interview below, Lavoie talks to GQ about joining the ranks of internet boyfriends, what he listens to while roaming the streets of Paris, and what's in store for Sterling Point's Ellis and Annie.Jaime Lopez Cano / Courtesy of YSLHow does it feel to be attending your first Paris Fashion Week?Oh my God, it feels surreal. It's my first time in Paris and my third time in Europe in general, and it's so cool. I mean, the bar is set very high. It was incredible.Walk me through the outfit you wore to the YSL show. The fitting was really cool. They had some great options. We went with this striped shirt with an open collar, and a little scarf on the neck. It looks really nice. And then these nice pleated pants and some really, really cool, classic black shoes. I'm so happy with my outfit. How has your experience been in Paris so far?I got here yesterday morning. It was like, 9:00 my time when I left, and then I got here at 10:00 AM. So I slept a little bit in the plane, and then I got here, went straight to the fitting. And once that ended, I tried to take it all in. I went on a little walk, went on a bike ride, went to the Eiffel Tower, got something to eat. I really tried to enjoy my time here, because I'm leaving tomorrow morning already. I walked around and took it all in. I was in the streets of Paris all alone, just vibing to some music and listening to podcasts and stuff. It was really fun. I enjoyed it.Okay, need to know—what's on your Walking Around Paris playlist?Oh, my God. Bunch of good stuff. Right now, lots of Steve Lacy, Malcolm Todd, some Jack Johnson… just some feel good songs, some good stuff, some good vibes.Love it. And you just did New York Fashion Week as well. Tell me about your Fashion Week experiences. Are you going to the parties? Are you just seeing the cities? It has been crazy, honestly. New York was so much fun. I'm a huge walker, so I love strolling around. When I’m in a new city I like pinning spots on my Apple Maps and trying to go to each one, trying all the good foods, all the good spots. I was walking around, lots of SoHo and a little bit of shopping, it was so much fun. And then here in Paris, it's kind of in and out, but I'm so lucky to be a part of the show and to be living this. It's surreal to me, honestly. Like today, I had a What Am I Doing Here? kind of moment. Our row was stacked with celebrities. It was surreal, honestly. It was crazy. And my view, I had the Eiffel Tower right in front of me. It was absolutely insane. It was so crazy.Who were you seated next to? Are you making any front-row friends?Yeah, I was sitting next to Belmont [Cameli] from Off Campus, so we met today. He's a super cool guy, big hockey guy also, so we bonded over that. And yeah, it was crazy. I think Post Malone was in my row, Hailey Bieber, some pretty big names. So it was definitely a surreal moment, honestly. It was crazy.Jaime Lopez Cano / Courtesy of YSLJaime Lopez Cano / Courtesy of YSLI want to talk a little bit about your personal sense of style. On Sterling Point, Ellis dresses very outdoorsy, almost granola. How would you say your style in real life compares to that? What's your approach to getting dressed on your off days?I feel like my style is always changing. I used to be big on brands and wearing the cool and trendy stuff and whatever, but I don't know. I feel like this past year, I've been gravitating more towards wearing whatever is comfortable, just some sport shorts and a hoodie, honestly. I'm a big hoodie guy. I love wearing hoodies. But I definitely took some stuff from Ellis's wardrobe, and I've been wearing some workwear. Whatever is comfortable, honestly. What’s your biggest fashion green flag and fashion red flag?Oh, my God. Green flag, I'd say, are short shorts. I feel like those are big right now.Are we talking super short? Like, Paul Mescal-style, five-inch inseam?Kind of, yeah. Short shorts are nice. And then a red flag, honestly, I guess I don't have any. I don't really care what people wear; just wear whatever feels good to you. Feel good, perform good, and just wear whatever you like. I'm not judgy like that. I don't have red flags. I don't care. That's a green flag, I'd say. Who are your biggest style inspirations?I like Jacob Elordi. I like Harry Styles. Who else do I like? Honestly, Lamine Yamal. I like his style. Even if it's more streetwear, I feel like he pulls off some cool fits. But yeah, big on Harry Styles. I love his style.Jaime Lopez Cano / Courtesy of YSLTell me a little bit about how you've been adjusting since the show came out. Are you surprised by its reception? How are you processing the whole thing? It's really wild. Honestly, I try to stay off my phone because you can just go hours on end reading everyone's opinions and comments and whatever. I feel like my feed has changed, but the three weeks following the release of the show, it was just Sterling Point as soon as I opened my phone, and it got to a point where it was… not scary, but a little bit. And then, obviously, all the attention online and stuff, it's wild. It went from zero to a hundred really, really quick, and it's crazy. I'm so, so grateful. It's absolutely insane. It's so nice to feel seen and to also see the love, especially in real life when people come up to me, and seeing the love and the passion from the fans, and that everybody enjoys the show and the character. It's such a weird job, but in the best way. And yeah, it has been so, so crazy. But I've been so grateful for it all. We're shooting a second season, but I feel like that season one magic and the release of a new show, and there's something to it. So, I'm trying to take it all in, and loving every second of it, honestly. How does it feel to join the ranks of internet boyfriends? Have you seen any of the edits and the fan cams, and all of the content that the viewers are making?Yeah, I've seen some. My friends are sending me a lot, and they're pretty wild. Yeah, it's kind of crazy, but I don't know if I'd consider myself one of those [heartthrobs]. But Belmont is definitely a heartthrob, that's for sure, the new internet boyfriend. It's a weird label to put on someone or something, but it's crazy. Is there anything that you can share going into season two? Have you seen any scripts, anything you're able to tease?I wish I had some stuff, but no, honestly. I'm so excited to get the new episodes. I had a meeting last week with the producers, and talked about what we want for season two, what we want for our characters and stuff. I'm so, so excited to get the next episode and to read it, obviously, but I'm really stoked to see where Ellis goes in season two and what's going to happen. Ellis and Annie's arc, their relationship, and how it's all going to go down—I'm so pumped.Where do you want to see Ellis go, both in his own story arc and in his story with Annie?I don't want it to be all sunshine and rainbows. Obviously, we're the end game, but I want it to be rocky and for Ellis to maybe get jealous, or maybe we see a side of him that we haven't really dug into in season one and get to know him a little better. It's hard to say, but I'm really excited to dive deeper into Ellis and who he truly is.Ooh, that's kind of ominous. His “true colors”...Yeah, right? Because we don't know much about his past, maybe someone from his past, or... We don't know. Anything could happen.
