Stereotactic Radiation vs Hippocampal-Avoidance Whole Brain Radiation

To the Editor A recent trial demonstrated that stereotactic radiation yields improved patient-reported symptoms and less functional interference than hippocampal-avoidance whole brain radiation therapy in patients with 5 to 20 brain metastases. Although this is an important advance, differential corticosteroid exposure, a known driver of many MD Anderson Symptom Inventory–Brain Tumor (MDASI-BT) items, was not addressed in the primary analysis.
