Star Wars Jedi 3 to be announced ‘soon’ as fans find final Easter egg

Cal’s story comes to a close with the third Star Wars Jedi game (EA) Rumours of a Star Wars Jedi 3 reveal have been backed up by another reliable insider, with an annoucement expected this year. 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, so you have to imagine that any major announcements regarding future movies and/or video games will be saved for the annual Star Wars Celebration event next April. Even so, there’s hope that EA will finally have something to show for its third Star Wars Jedi game, which was heavily teased in 2024 and will wrap up Respawn’s Cal Kestis trilogy, that began with 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. A reliable Star Wars insider recently claimed that marketing for the threequel could start before the end of the year, ahead of a 2027 launch, and in case you had any doubt in your heart, another reliable source has lent further credence to those claims. This comes courtesy of Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier who, in a response to a fan on Bluesky, said that Star Wars Jedi 3 is ‘far in development’ as opposed to the rumoured Star Wars Battlefront 3, which ‘hasn’t even started yet.’ Respawn is expected to helm the Battlefront sequel too, but you shouldn’t expect this to interfere with Star Wars Jedi 3 since the latter ‘should be officially announced soon.’ Want GTA 6 news? Even if it’s only a teaser, this makes it sound like EA will formally reveal the game during The Game Awards 2026. Alternatively, it could drop a teaser on social media ahead of time but save a more substantial trailer for The Game Awards itself, which is exactly what it did for Star Was Jedi: Survivor. The timing also makes sense. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor came out in 2023, about four years after the first game, and barring any sort of behind the scenes disasters (which by all accounts haven’t happened), 2027 is a reasonable estimate for the third game. There has been some scepticism about Star Wars Jedi 3’s chances considering EA’s recent leveraged buyout has saddled the company with $20 billion (about £14.8 billion) of debt, which has resulted in layoffs and cancelled games. This has included the new Mass Effect, with developer BioWare being shut down altogether, though Schreier previously reported that this was partially due to EA seeing a new Star Wars: Battlefront as a safer investment. So, other Star Wars projects likely have an innate advantage thanks to the licence. Coincidentally, these rumours come as fans have uncovered one final Easter egg in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. According to an X post on November 1, by Respawn’s UI director Jordan DeVries, no one had found a secret hidden in the game’s menu system. A fan named towerbunga accepted this challenge and, through what we can only assume was a copious amount of trial and error, discovered DeVries’ secret by inputting the famous Konami code in the game’s skill tree menu. Younger readers may not know this, but the Konami code was a popular cheat code in old Konami games and has been referenced in other video games across the years. According to towerbunga, the code needs to be inputted quite slowly, but doing so causes a giant holographic ghost of a frog-like alien to appear and eat the floating planet in the background. The alien in question is the oggdo bogdo, which was an optional superboss in both Star Wars Jedi games. Clearly, the thing has become a favourite of the development team, so don’t be shocked if it comes back for a rematch in the third game. This thing’s been hidden for three years (EA/X) Email gamecentral@metro.co.uk, leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
