Now, the latest release has been confirmed, and it takes us back to the classic era where it all began, bringing back a raft of familiar faces in the process. Ashes Of Empire Brings Back Some Huge Characters Over on the official website for Star Wars: Unlimited, developer Fantasy Flight Games confirmed the release of the Ashes of Empire set. If you're yet to play Unlimited, it's essentially the officially licensed TCG for the series, which puts the emphasis on players for fast and furious games. In letting fans know a little about what they can expect from the latest set, the publisher shared the following insight: "Welcome to Ashes of the Empire, the eighth set of Star Wars™: Unlimited! As its title suggests, this set turns its focus to a specific era within the Star Wars galaxy: the Battle of Endor and the years that followed it, featuring characters, ships, and events that played a starring role during the fall of the Galactic Empire and the period of uncertainty left in its wake. "In addition to over 260 new cards, Ashes of the Empire introduces several new features into the game. Have your units work together to achieve victory with the new Support keyword; call on the aid of resilient Mandalorian token units; and strike hard and fast with fleeting Advantage tokens!" Luke Skywalker heads up one of the new ready-to-play 50-card spotlight decks, with the nefarious Emperor Palpatine taking on the role for the Dark Side. This set also includes Carbonite Edition booster packs, which are essentially the equivalent of Collector Boosters from Magic: The Gathering, and feature variant cards that have special aesthetic treatments. These are the cards that will come with the highest value, making them the best option for those who primarily collect. In even better news, the set is out now, so if the cards do draw you in, as cardboard so often does for people like me, then you don't have to wait to get in on the action. Plenty More Star Wars To Come In even better news for Star Wars fans, there are plenty of projects coming down the pipeline to keep the story alive.
