After being put together by the pair in a humble basement, the cooperative, storytelling tabletop RPG (TTRPG) has now become a worldwide phenomenon, seeing players come together with friends to express their imagination and roll a whole lot of dice. As such, over the past 50 years, the Dungeons & Dragons universe has collaborated with all manner of hit IPs, including the likes of Stranger Things, Magic: The Gathering, World of Warcraft, and many more, and now, it seems as though the Star Wars universe will be the next collaboration to look forward to. Courtesy of a Twitter/X post on the official Dungeons & Dragons account, a Dungeons & Dragons x Star Wars collaboration will take place in the Season of Rebellion and will arrive some time in 2027. With more details to be revealed later on, it is exciting news nonetheless. Whilst there have been previous Star Wars TTRPG experiences before, this is the first time that the official Dungeons & Dragons world will be collaborating with Star Wars, and it is something that many fans have been waiting for over the years. However, how this TTRPG experience will come to fruition currently remains a mystery. Will it focus on the original trilogy or a more recent project? Will we get to play as some of our favorite characters, such as Luke and Leia, or even Darth Vader? Which land will it be located on? Unfortunately, we do not know, and these questions will remain unanswered until Wizards of the Coast reveal more. However, thanks to Dan Ayoub, Head of Dungeons & Dragons Franchise at Wizards of the Coast, we do have a bit more information surrounding the future of the franchise. “With Universes Beyond, we are expanding Dungeons & Dragons into even more worlds we love, like World of Warcraft. At the same time, we are revisiting core D&D settings, including Dark Sun, Dragonlance, and Greyhawk. What’s more, in a crossover that fans have dreamed about for years, Star Wars is coming to Dungeons & Dragons for the first time, bringing the iconic galaxy to our players’ tabletops. Our wide range of announcements show that we are committed to delivering more choices, and more ways for friends and family to adventure together.” For now, we can only sit and wait for more information surrounding the Dungeons & Dragons x Star Wars experience, but for now, hype is understandably building ahead of this epic collaboration.
