Star Trek Voyager Officially Returns October 2026 In New Q-Focused Release

Star Trek Voyager: The Q Trials Releases October 2026 Published Sep 11, 2026, 5:00 PM EDT Nicholas Becher is a gaming journalist with an MFA in Creative Writing from FAU. With extensive experience playing video games, he covers all forms of gaming content at Screen Rant, from breaking news to the latest fan theories. Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond. Star Trek's Q is arguably one of the most mischievous and unpredictable figures in the entire franchise. Played by John de Lancie, the omnipotent member of the Q Continuum first tormented Jean-Luc Picard and the Enterprise crew in Star Trek: The Next Generation before eventually turning his attention to Captain Janeway and Voyager. With virtually unlimited power at his disposal, Q could manipulate reality, travel through time, transport people across the galaxy, and completely upend the crew's lives seemingly on a whim. However, beneath his arrogance and constant games, he frequently forced Starfleet officers into moral and philosophical dilemmas that revealed as much about humanity as a whole as they did about Q himself. His encounters with Janeway brought an especially entertaining dynamic to Voyager, giving the series some of its strangest, funniest, and most consequential episodes while expanding the mythology surrounding the mysterious Q Continuum. And now, Star Trek: Voyager fans are poised for another escapade with Q in the upcoming release of The Q Trials, arriving this October (via Daedalic). Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown is giving players a new and exciting experience with The Q Trials, which launches as a free update on October 1, 2026. The new mode puts John de Lancie's omnipotent troublemaker in control, remixing Voyager's journey through the Delta Quadrant with randomized events, changing routes, and new challenges designed to make every run feel different. Players will also have greater freedom when assembling their crew, opening the door to unusual combinations such as an all-Borg lineup. The Q Trials expands on the survival-strategy foundations of Across the Unknown, which launched February 18, 2026. Developed by gameXcite and published by Daedalic Entertainment, the game essentially lets players rewrite Voyager's seven-year trip home, managing the ship and its resources while exploring the Delta Quadrant, making diplomatic and moral decisions, researching technology, fighting enemy vessels, and sending crews on away missions. Choices can dramatically alter familiar events depending on what you decide, and the ultimate fate of Voyager's crew is in your hands. Launching alongside The Q Trials is the Equinox DLC, which introduces the USS Equinox as an alternative playable ship within the mode. The ship's smaller size means reduced building space, crew capacity, and warp power, and is designed to be a bit more challenging than the core experience. The DLC also adds Captain Rudolph Ransom, Maxwell Burke, and Noah Lessing as recruitable characters, along with the Equinox-exclusive "Spirits of Good Fortune" questline. Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown Expansion Pass owners receive the DLC as part of the pass, and both The Q Trials and the Equinox DLC arrive October 1 for PC, PS5, XBOX Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
