With extensive experience playing video games, he covers all forms of gaming content at Screen Rant, from breaking news to the latest fan theories. Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond. After 60 years, Star Trek has become one of the greatest and most enduring science fiction franchises of all time, building a universe that has survived and evolved across generations of television, film, games, books, and more. Much of that staying power comes down to its extraordinary cast of characters, many of whom have become cultural icons. From James T. Kirk and Jean-Luc Picard to Benjamin Sisko, Kathryn Janeway, Data, Seven of Nine, and countless others, each era of Star Trek has introduced personalities who helped redefine the science fiction landscape. Yet few have left a footprint quite as large as Leonard Nimoy's Spock, with his iconic Vulcan salute and struggle to balance his human and Vulcan identities, Spock transcended Star Trek decades ago, becoming one of the greatest and most instantly recognizable characters in sci-fi history. And to celebrate Star Trek's 60th, the franchise is officially bringing Spock back in a major way with the upcoming release of Rediscovered, arriving September 22. Star Trek Online has just unveiled a massive new update with Rediscovered, arriving on PC on September 22 and PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series consoles on November 10. Featured as part of the update is a "Spock through the Ages" arc, which will showcase Spock's various roles across the franchise, including a brand-new appearance starring Piotr Michael in the role of Captain Spock. Michael has a history playing Spock, primarily as the older Ambassador Spock in Star Trek: Resurgence, where he effectively performed a Leonard Nimoy-style impersonation. Michael has also voiced Starfleet computer systems in Star Trek: Discovery, including the shuttle computer in several episodes, and appeared in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy in 2026 as President Sadal's voice chip and another computer voice. Further, Ethan Peck will be reprising his role as Lieutenant Spock from Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Additionally, the update will include "original archival dialogue from Leonard Nimoy is reintroduced as Commander Spock, bringing his iconic performance back to the game." The larger Rediscovered update will also continue the remaster of The Ultimate Klingon storyline, an ongoing STO fan-favorite, as well as bringing back Lisa LoCicero in her iconic role as Lieutenant Miral Paris, with Jon St. John returning as B'vat as well. The Rediscovered update "also introduces a new five-player Space TFO, 'Know Thy Enemy,'" as well as the official Rediscovered Event. Overall, Star Trek Online: Rediscovered is a great way to celebrate the franchise's 60th anniversary, and longtime fans will have plenty of new content to explore in the coming weeks.
