The MCU timeline is currently in the midst of Phase 6, as Marvel Studios is finishing the remainder of its slate for The Multiverse Saga, which will officially finish in 2027 with Avengers: Secret Wars. While the world is getting ready for Avengers: Doomsday later this year, one of the long-time stars in the franchise is eyeing his return. In a new interview with The Playlist, Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the franchise, offered some more clarity on Peter Quill's future with the MCU. The Guardians of the Galaxy star stated, “I have a great relationship with Kevin [Feige] and Lou [D’Esposito], and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise. So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere.” The last time audience members saw Pratt's space hero was in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as Peter made the decision to step down as the leader of the team. As the film ended with the promise that "The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return," many have been wondering what upcoming MCU movies he could be involved with after James Gunn's last Marvel Studios feature. As of writing, it is unclear if he will be involved with Doomsday or Secret Wars, especially with the installment that is being released on December 18. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has indicated that there are still a lot of characters that they have not announced for Joe and Anthony Russo's December installment. Even though there is a chance that he is not part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast at all, it would not be shocking if Pratt's Star-Lord shows up in Secret Wars, as the Phase 6 finale has yet to start principal photography. It also wouldn't be strange for characters who didn't show up in Doomsday to be saved for the follow-up film. However, Pratt's comments could also suggest that there are projects being eyed for him in Phase 7, as very little is known about the line-up of films and series after The Multiverse Saga. Thus far, they have the X-Men reboot confirmed for May 5, 2028, along with Ryan Gosling's Ghost Rider on July 28, and Black Panther 3 on December 15, while the recently announced Zodiac TV show will premiere on Disney+ that year. While there are numerous directions they can take with Star-Lord in the future, another big question that also remains unanswered is whether or not the Guardians of the Galaxy will be back anytime soon, as the popular team has not had a presence in the MCU since the trilogy finale. But similar to Pratt, perhaps they may be surprise players for the next Avengers films too, as the franchise gets ready to take on Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy is available for streaming on Disney+ and through home media release. First Film Iron Man First TV Show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
