Staple of Alabama radio dead at 64

Longtime Alabama radio host Suzanne Moore Snider died Friday at Coosa Valley Medical Center, according to her obituary.She was 64.Snider was well known to central Alabama radio listeners after over three decades in the industry.Snider got her start at WHMA-FM, “Alabama 100,” in the 90s and, after a break from radio, returned as the midday host on The Big 95 WHMA a decade ago.The station mourned Snider’s passing in a post to Facebook Sunday.“Our WHMA family is heartbroken to share that our midday host, Suzanne Moore Snider, has passed away. A staple since the 1990s on the old Alabama 100, Suzanne has been The Big 95’s midday voice for the past 10 years,” the post read. “She was an incredible human being who brought joy to everyone she met. Rest in peace, Suzanne.”Snider is survived by her husband, Jim Snider, sisters, Sharon Downing, Sandra Moore, niece, Shaylyn Downing, nephew, Ridge Downing and her 2 dogs and cat that she loved, according to her obituary. The Alabama Broadcasters Association wrote that its “thoughts and prayers go out to Suzanne’s family, friends, and radio colleagues,” in a post to Facebook Monday.
