Stanford wrestling announced the hire of Myles Amine as an assistant coach. Amine, a former Michigan standout and Olympic Bronze Medalist, will join a staff led by Chris Ayres. Amine was the first five-time All-American in NCAA wrestling history when he placed on the podium in 2022 in Detroit. He was the runner-up at 184 pounds to Penn State’s Aaron Brooks. $19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage With Amine on staff, it fills a vacant spot left by Hayden Hidlay, who returned to his alma mater NC State this offseason. Amine will work with the Stanford upperweights primarily. “Stanford is one of the few places in the world where the pursuit of excellence isn’t confined to one arena, it’s the standard everywhere you look,” Amine said. “That’s the environment I competed in my whole career, and it’s the environment I want to coach in. I couldn’t be more excited to get to work!” Amine finished his collegiate career with a 125-13 record, ranking 13th all-time in wins for the Wolverines. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Amine won a Bronze Medal at 86 KG representing San Marino. He also won a Bronze Medal at the 2023 World Championships. At the 2024 Olympics, Amine fell short in his Bronze Medal match, failing to medal for the second straight games. Still, he should be in contention in 2028 when the Olympics come to Los Angeles. “Myles is an exceptional fit for our program,” Ayres said. “His entrepreneurial background, combined with his international wrestling experience, gives him a truly unique perspective. Considering where Stanford wrestling is today and where we believe it can go, I do not think we could have found a better person for this role. “Patrick Brucki deserves a great deal of credit for making the initial connection and execution of the hire. It was a true team effort to bring Myles to Stanford.” A two-time Big Ten champion (2021, 2022), Amine was named Co-Big Ten Wrestler of the Championships in 2022. His pedigree sould translate well for Stanford, considering this team finished 6th at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Stanford saw 149 pounder Aden Valencia capture an NCAA title in March in Cleveland. Not only that, Stanford retained three of four starters who tested the NCAA transfer portal waters. With Amine added to the staff, Ayres and Stanford should be able to field a lineup that could be one of the best dual teams in the country. With the talent acquired, Stanford could be in contention for a team trophy at the 2027 NCAA Tournament in St. Louis.
