Mandatory Credit: Darren Yamashita-Imagn Images From October 5th to October 7th, the Atlantic Coast Conference will have their annual ACC Basketball Tipoff in Charlotte, North Carolina. Representing Stanford men’s basketball will be head coach Kyle Smith, senior forward/center Aidan Cammann, and junior forward Donavin Young. Representing Stanford women’s basketball will be head coach Kate Paye, sophomore guard Hailee Swain, and sophomore forward Alexandra Eschmeyer. Neither program made the NCAA tournament last season, but they are hoping that they’ll both be able to make the field this season. Especially with the tournament expanding from 68 to 76 teams. TheACC.com: 2026 ACC Basketball Tipoff Attendees Announced Starting with the men’s basketball selections, Donavin Young is an interesting choice given he averaged 2.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game last season. Stanford has high hopes for him due to his athleticism and raw physical tools. I take his selection to be a sign that the Cardinal expect him to make a major leap this season. As for Aidan Cammann, he took a real leap last season as a redshirt sophomore, averaging 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. Stanford is going to look to him to really anchor what they do in the post. Switching gears to the women’s basketball selections, Hailee Swain had a strong freshman season last year, averaging 10.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. She’s going to look to build on her freshman season and settle more into that starting point guard role. As for Alexandra Eschmeyer, she’s going to look to be the anchor in the post, averaging 5.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game as a freshman. Her shot blocking and rebounding inside has a chance to make a real impact and she can also stretch the floor, shooting 32.4% from 3-point range. Looking ahead to the season, Stanford men’s basketball will have an exhibition at Santa Clara on Saturday, October 17th and an exhibition at Oregon on Sunday, October 25th. Stanford women’s basketball will have an exhibition at home against Pacific on Saturday, October 24th and an exhibition at home against UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, October 28th. Check out the full schedules of both teams below. In a pair of subsequent articles, I’ll do a breakdown of both schedules. So keep an eye out for those.
